What BidJoy is

An auction that works on any phone

Your supporters scan a code, sign in with a text message and bid. You list the items, set the rules and watch the bids come in.

  • Timed online auctions for galas, schools and parishes
  • Your own address for each nonprofit, such as riverside.bidjoy.org
  • Built for phones first, in English and Spanish
  • Made by The Doodle Project, a small business in Frisco, Texas

How it works

From a QR code to a paid invoice

Bidders need no app and no password. Here is the path.

  1. Scan the QR code

Every lot has a QR code. Print it next to the item or on a flyer. Bidders land on that lot in their phone browser.

  2. Sign in with a text code

Bidders enter a mobile number and the code we text them. That is the whole sign-in.

  3. Bid with a maximum

A bidder sets the most they will pay. BidJoy bids for them, one step at a time, up to that maximum.

  4. Get a text when outbid

Anyone outbid gets a text with a link back to the lot. Winners get a text and a link to pay.

Features

What is ready, and what is on the way

We label every feature, so you know what you can use today.

Ready

Timed auctions

Set the start and end. Add lots with photos and a description. Reserve prices and bid steps are built in.

Ready

Fair-play bidding

One server clock decides every bid and every close. Anti-snipe time extends a lot when bids land at the last moment.

Ready

Proxy bids

Bidders enter a maximum. The system bids for them and never goes over it.

Ready

QR code on every lot

Print them on flyers and table cards. A scan opens the lot.

Ready

Live outbid texts

Bidders hear about it the moment someone passes them, with a link to bid again.

Building now

Buy now

Let a bidder end a lot early at a fixed price.

A donation form on the event page. Pledges are collected at checkout.

Receipts with tax-deductible amounts

Each receipt shows the fair market value and the deductible part, as donors expect.

Coming

Live events that survive a bad network

A clerk console for the room. It records bids offline and catches up when the network returns.

Coming

Texas charitable raffles

Support for your supporters only. A raffle is never listed publicly.

Your money

Your money goes to you

Each nonprofit connects its own Stripe account. When a bidder pays, the payment goes straight to that account. We never hold your funds. We take no cut of what you raise.

Card details go to Stripe and never reach our servers. Square support is planned.

Security and privacy

Built to keep your supporters safe

Walled-off data

Each nonprofit sees only its own data. The database enforces that, not just the app.

No passwords to leak

Sign-in uses a text code. There are no passwords to steal or reuse.

Your bidders stay yours

We never use your bidders’ names, numbers or addresses outside your auction. We never sell that data.

No ads

There are no ads on your auction. Only a small footer from us.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do bidders need to install an app?

No. BidJoy runs in the phone’s web browser. Bidders sign in with their mobile number and a text code.

Who holds the money?

You do. Payments go to your nonprofit’s own Stripe account. We never hold your funds.

What does it cost?

You pay a flat fee for each event, based on what you expect to raise. We do not take a percentage of your sales. See the pricing page.

Can we run a live event in a room?

Live events are on the way. They will include a clerk console that keeps working if the venue network drops. Timed online auctions work today.

Do you support raffles?

We plan to support Texas charitable raffles for your signed-in supporters. When that ships, a raffle will not be public. We never list raffles for people to browse.

Is there a Spanish version?

Yes. Bidders can switch between English and Spanish.

How do we get started?

Email us. We will set up your nonprofit, help you pick your address and walk you through your first auction.
